JUST A DREAM:

© 1993 by Lydia Glider-Shelley
Verse 1:
He chooses to be ignorant about the world around him, And while his life is passing by, he waits for its beginning. When he goes to work and pays the bills he often wonders Why he even bothers to drag through another day.
But he was taught this was all he was supposed to do, And being a good guy would bring him all the peace he needs.
Maybe if he ever took a risky chance or two
He might find the joy for which her passion bleeds.
Verse 2:
She’s a lonely dreamer, and very often wonders
Just about the people all around her who all seem
To live within their bubbles of secret isolation
And never give each other a break along the way
But she grew up alone, so she understands the truth
That many just can not communicate
And as she ponders how she has squandered her youth
She wonders just who can appreciate
That it’s so hard to get by without a hand to hold…
Tenderness and warmth beneath the starry skies:
If you try to ask her why she shivers when it’s not cold,
She’ll tell you it’s because of the look in his eyes…
And she’ll tell you it was all just a dream.
