JERRY’S SONG/THE PHOENIX/DEADHEAD’S LULLABYE

© 1999 by Lydia Glider - Shelley
Verse 1:
The shepherd has gone - his sheep are astray:
over mountains too high, and valleys so low,
they all wandered away.
He felt like a con: deceiving them all...
never stopped to ask why, or where it would lead,
and how hard one might fall.

Climb:
Like the Phoenix rising from the ashes of pain:
reinventing the wheel amid incomprehensible strain...
He was built just like a big bear: with a shaggy beard, and silvery hair...
To know him was to be incredibly blessed:
the aura of talent he had set him apart from the rest
Chorus:
He was a man with a plan no one else could really understand, and sometimes, just like all of us lost his way as well...but how could anyone tell?
Verse 2:
The truth is a lie - deception is real! If you see paradox for what it can be, it will help you to heal. Our bodies all die: but spirit does not... like a jack - in - the - box, yearning to be free, old desire burning hot... (repeat climb and chorus)
Verse 3:
When love is your goal, and music is joy:
there is no sweeter taste, smell, sight, sound, or caress... and there’s no greater toy!
It’s hard to be whole, but we must all try!
It’s in this state of grace, a Nirvana - like realm, in which we learn to fly!
(repeat climb and chorus)
tag: Yes the shepherd is gone,
but his legacy lives on!
